Football Bankroll Management

Bankroll management is the single biggest reason value bettors survive while gut bettors go broke. Covers unit sizing, the three main staking plans (flat, percentage, Kelly), and the discipline rules that separate long-term winners from chasing-losses casualties.

What this market is

Your bankroll is the total amount of money set aside for betting. A unit is a percentage of that bankroll, typically 1-3%. So a 1000 EUR bankroll with 2% units bets 20 EUR per pick. Bankroll management means deciding the unit size BEFORE you start betting, and sticking to it through losing streaks.

How BetBot picks them

Three common staking plans: Flat (every bet is the same size regardless of confidence; safest), Percentage (every bet is a fixed % of current bankroll; recovers slower from drawdowns but compounds wins), Kelly Criterion (bet size scales with edge size; mathematically optimal long-term but high variance). Flat staking is the right choice for most punters.

FAQ

1-3% of total bankroll is the safe range. 5%+ exposes you to crushing variance: a 5-game losing streak (statistically inevitable over time) costs 25% of your bankroll.

Only by re-computing the % unit on the new bankroll, not by gut feel. 'I'm on a run' is variance speaking, not edge.

Mathematically optimal but high variance. Most pros use half-Kelly or quarter-Kelly to smooth the variance. Flat staking is the right baseline for non-pros.
