This policy explains what data the BetBot Discord bot and the betbott.com website collect, how the data is used, how long it is retained, and your rights as a user. The bot is operated by an individual (BetBot Editorial). For any questions or data requests, contact fuglejobb@gmail.com.

1. Summary

BetBot is a free Discord bot and informational website that publishes football betting predictions. We collect only the minimum data necessary to operate the bot and the website. We do not sell, share, rent or trade your data with third parties for marketing. We do not run advertising. We do not have affiliate deals with bookmakers.

2. Discord bot data collection

The BetBot Discord bot processes the following data when it operates in a server:

• Server (guild) ID and name - to identify where to post auto-scheduled alerts and to display server context in the bot owner's admin dashboard.
• Channel IDs - the specific channels a server admin has subscribed to for /tip, /scorer, /today, /red, /press and /streak alerts.
• Server member count - the aggregate number of members per server, used to display server statistics in the bot owner's admin dashboard and to enforce administrative operation thresholds.
• Server owner user ID - used to send direct-message notifications about bot updates or maintenance windows.
• Command usage events - which slash commands are run (counts), not which individual user ran them.

The bot does not collect, store or process individual user messages from any server. The Message Content Intent is used solely to detect a small set of administrative prefix-commands (such as !cache, !auto, !when) from a hardcoded list of three authorised users (the bot owner and two co-administrators). All other message content is discarded immediately without processing, logging or storage.

The Server Members Intent is used solely to read the aggregate member count per server and to detect join/leave events for the bot itself. No individual member data (usernames, IDs, roles, presence, profile data) is read, stored or shared.

3. Website data collection

The betbott.com website collects:

• Aggregate page-view analytics via Vercel Analytics. Page URLs, referrer URLs, country, device type and browser. No personally identifying information. No cookies.
• Server-log data on the hosting platform (IP addresses, timestamps, request paths) for standard infrastructure security and abuse prevention. Server logs are retained for 30 days and not used for user profiling.

The website does not use tracking cookies, does not embed third-party advertising scripts, and does not share visitor data with any third party.

4. How we use the data

The data described above is used solely to:

• Deliver predictions and live alerts to the correct Discord channels.
• Display server statistics in the bot owner's private admin dashboard.
• Send infrequent direct-message notifications to server owners (typically less than once per month) about bot updates or scheduled maintenance.
• Improve the accuracy and reliability of the prediction system.
• Detect and prevent abuse, spam or technical attacks against the infrastructure.

5. Data retention

• Server configuration (subscribed channels, alert preferences): retained as long as the bot is in your server. Deleted within 7 days of the bot leaving the server or the server being deleted.
• Server owner user IDs: retained while the bot is in the server. Deleted within 7 days of leaving.
• Prediction history (the bot's own picks and their verified outcomes): retained indefinitely for the public /record and /results history. This is not user data.
• Aggregate analytics: retained for 12 months in anonymised form.
• Server logs: 30 days.
• Discord cooldown tracking (per-user rate limits): in-memory only, cleared on bot restart.

6. Third-party services

BetBot uses the following third-party infrastructure:

• Discord - to receive commands and send messages. Discord's privacy policy applies to all Discord-internal data.
• api-sports.io - football match data, odds, fixtures, lineups, statistics. No user data is sent to api-sports.io.
• Google Generative AI (Gemini) - for the AI text generation used to write the brief reasoning attached to each pick. Only public match-context data is sent (team names, league, statistics); no user-identifying data is transmitted.
• Vercel - website hosting and analytics. Vercel's privacy policy applies to analytics data collected through their platform.
• Railway - Discord bot hosting infrastructure.

We do not share user data with any other third parties. No data is sold, rented or used for cross-site advertising.

7. Your rights under GDPR

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom or any jurisdiction with equivalent rights, you have the following rights regarding your data:

• Right of access - request a copy of any data we hold about you or your server.
• Right to erasure - request deletion of any data we hold about you or your server.
• Right to rectification - request correction of any inaccurate data.
• Right to portability - request your data in a machine-readable format.
• Right to object - object to specific processing activities.
• Right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

To exercise any of these rights, email fuglejobb@gmail.com with the subject line "Data request" and identify your Discord server ID. We respond within 30 days as required by GDPR.

8. Data deletion when you remove the bot

Removing the BetBot bot from your Discord server automatically triggers deletion of your server's configuration data within 7 days. No action from you is required beyond removing the bot. If you want immediate deletion confirmation, email fuglejobb@gmail.com.

9. Children

BetBot is not intended for use by anyone under 18 years of age. The website and bot do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor has used the bot, contact us and we will delete any associated data immediately.

10. Security

We use industry-standard security practices to protect the data we hold: encrypted transit (HTTPS), encrypted storage on the hosting provider, restricted access to administrative interfaces. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach were to occur affecting your data, we would notify affected server owners within 72 hours as required by GDPR.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date at the top. If we make changes that materially affect how we process your data, we will send a direct-message notification to server owners through the bot.
