La Liga has led Europe's top five leagues in yellow cards per game for most of the last decade. Spanish referees book for dissent and time-wasting far more readily than English or German officials, which makes the booking lines in Spain structurally higher and the per-team spread worth knowing cold. Here is every team's count for the current season.
The betting angle
El Clasico and the Seville derby are the classic card magnets, but mid-table sides fighting relegation in spring often top the bookings-per-game table.
Team baselines are half the picture; the referee and the fixture context are the other half. A high-card team against a rival, under a strict official, is how booking overs land.
